Until the 26th of October, Charlotte Østervang exhibits photos from Christiania at Nytorv square in Copenhagen. Christiania is the self-proclaimed free-town that occupies a part of Copenhagen, and has been a center for alternative life-style for more than 30 years now.
Østervangs large portraits are very powerful and impressive – and leaves a somewhat more nuanced picture of life in the free-town, than what we usually see in the media.
If you can’t make it to Copenhagen, you have the chance to see the pictures in a book insted. When the exhibition closes, the photos will be part of the collections of the National museum, which will exhibit them again in 2010. But it is most recommend to see them out in the open air.
